Epigenetic regulators

Sestrin2 and GATOR

cryo-EM Grid Development

The Cho laboratory focuses on illustrating the molecular mechanisms of epigenetic regulators using structural biology as a major approach.

Using both the x-ray protein crystallography and cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM) as primary tools, we aim to determine the structures of epigenetic regulators in complex with its substrate, nucleosome, at the molecular level and thereby elucidate their biochemical/physiological functions.

In addition, we are interested in elucidating the molecular mechanisms of mTORC1 regulation, particularly focusing on amino-acid dependent upstream regulators, such as Sestrins and GATOR complexes.

For the technical development, we are developing cryo-EM grids, such as graphene grids and affinity grids, to improve the sample preparation step in cryo-EM.
